Description

Located in Morey-Saint-Denis, Domaine Ponsot is a family-run wine producer with most of its holdings in grand cru and premier cru vineyards. The estate was established by William Ponsot in 1872 and is now run by his descendant Rose-Marie Ponsot since 2017. Clos de la Roche is their top cuvée made from vines that are over 65 years old. The wine is fermented on indigenous yeast and aged for 18 months in oak barrels before being bottled unfiltered.

About this wine

The 1999 vintage of the Clos de la Roche Vieilles Vignes by Domaine Ponsot is a benchmark expression of Pinot Noir from Burgundy's esteemed Clos de la Roche Grand Cru vineyard. Produced from vines that are notably old, this vintage is celebrated for its depth, structure, and the exquisite balance between fruit purity and tertiary complexity, evolving magnificently with age. Notes of ripe red berries, cherries, forest floor, and a hint of spice, with a full-bodied palate that softens with age, revealing layers of complexity and a lingering, velvety finish. Not specified, but Domaine Ponsot's wines are highly acclaimed and sought after by connoisseurs.
