Description

Clos Rougeard is one of the most legendary producers of Cabernet Franc in the Loire Valley and their wines are incredibly highly sought after. Antoine Foucault is the ninth generation to run the estate and the incomparable quality of the wines is largely due to their uncompromising viticultural standards and minimal intervention winemaking. Les Poyeux comes from a nearly 2-hectare plot of the same name, situated on a gentle slope with a clay and limestone soil mixed with windblown sands. A universally popular wine, with notes of vanilla and dry spices, here is a wonderfully mature find from the 1989 vintage.
