Description

Château Valandraud is undoubtedly one of the benchmark producers of Saint-Émilion and, in a relatively short space of time, has already achieved the second-highest classification of Premier Grand Cru Classé (B).The 2016 Grand Vin is a sublime follow-up to the excellent 2015 and continues a wonderful run of releases from this estate since the year 2000. Remarkably intense in colour, this is an endlessly deep, rich and sumptuous wine that, although blessed with extraordinarily fine tannins, is certainly built for the long-haul. Drink 2022-2050.

About this wine

The 2016 Valandraud epitomizes the estate's commitment to quality, showcasing the exceptional character of Saint-Émilion. This vintage is celebrated for its depth, complexity, and balance, reflecting a superb year in Bordeaux. Aged in new French oak barrels, it delivers rich layers of dark fruit, spices, and finely integrated tannins. Intense notes of blackberries, blueberries, and plums mixed with hints of spices, cocoa, and delicate floral undertones. Full-bodied, with supple texture and a long, persistent finish.

Valandraud

The Valandraud collection represents the essence of Château Valandraud's innovative spirit in Saint-Émilion. Known for its meticulous production methods and exceptional quality, the vintages from Valandraud are highly sought after by wine enthusiasts.

Château Valandraud

Château Valandraud is the fruit of an unparalleled passion for the vine and wine. Founded by Jean-Luc Thunevin and his wife Murielle Andraud, it became the flagship of the small Saint-Émilion property (Right Bank of the Dordogne), which led the way for what is known as the 'Garage Wine' movement. The approach was based on a more dedicated and artisanal approach to wine-making.
