Description

Founded in 1994 by Manfred and Elaine Krankl, Sine Qua Non is perhaps the most famous of all the California cult wineries and is renowned for producing exceptionally limited quantities of wines made from the classic varieties of the Rhône Valley. The 2011 Patine releases were part of the Extended Barrel-Aged (EBA) program with the Syrah having spent 40 months in oak barriques, of which around 63% were new. It is a blend of 93% Syrah, 4% Petite Sirah, 1.6% Roussanne and 1% Viognier all from the Eleven Confessions estate vineyard.

About this wine

The 2011 Patine Syrah represents the hallmark of Sine Qua Non's approach to winemaking. Produced in a challenging vintage, this wine demonstrates the ability to craft a masterpiece amid adversity. Featuring a complex array of flavors, it is a testament to the meticulous viticulture and innovative winemaking techniques of its producers. The wine opens with aromas of dark fruit, pepper, and earthiness, evolving into complex layers of chocolate, coffee, and herbs on the palate.
