Founded in 1994 by Manfred and Elaine Krankl, Sine Qua Non is perhaps the most famous of all the California cult wineries and is renowned for producing exceptionally limited quantities of wines made from the classic varieties of the Rhône Valley. The 2011 Patine releases were part of the Extended Barrel-Aged (EBA) program with the Syrah having spent 40 months in oak barriques, of which around 63% were new. It is a blend of 93% Syrah, 4% Petite Sirah, 1.6% Roussanne and 1% Viognier all from the Eleven Confessions estate vineyard.

Sine Qua Non is a California winery known for its Rhône style blends, a tendency to avoid repetition, and highly limited production of wine that’s often difficult to obtain.
