Cheval Blanc was effectively created in 1832 when a portion of the vineyards belonging to Château Figeac were sold off to M. Laussac-Fourcaud. Given the highest possible rank in the appellation, Premier Grand Cru Classé (A), Cheval Blanc`s Cabernet Franc-heavy blend is considered by many to be the pinnacle of winemaking in France. The annual production hovers around the 6,000 case mark.
