Description

Aalto has only existed since 1999, however, with Mariano Garcia (Vega Sicilia winemaker for 30 years) at the helm the winery has gone from strength to strength and is now one of the most highly regarded producers in the Ribera del Duero region. PS is strictly limited to 20,000 bottles per year and the 2015 was produced from selected plots of 60 to 90-year-old Tempranillo vines in La Horra and La Aguilera. It is a wonderfully expressive release and manages to strike an excellent balance between power and elegance. Awash with intense black fruits, savoury complexity is now emerging with bottle age and the tannins are beginning to soften.

Aalto

The Aalto wine collection represents the pinnacle of Ribera del Duero winemaking, showcasing the full potential of the Tempranillo grape. With a focus on limited production and meticulous vineyard selection, the wines from Bodegas Aalto express the complexity, elegance, and power that the region's unique climate and soils can impart.

Bodegas Aalto

Bodegas Aalto is a prestigious Spanish winery in the Ribera del Duero DO, renowned for producing some of the most highly regarded wines in the region. The winery was founded in 1999 by Mariano García, former winemaker of Vega Sicilia, and Javier Zaccagnini, former head of the Consejo Regulador of the Ribera del Duero DO. Their partnership was formed with the goal of creating wines that would express the unique character of the Tinto Fino (Tempranillo) grape and the distinct terroirs of Ribera del Duero.
