Description

Owned and operated by the tireless Féraud family, Domaine de Pegau is unquestionably one of the leading producers in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Cuvée da Capo is their flagship wine and is only produced in years deemed of exceptional quality, with just seven vintages ever released. It is a traditional assemblage of the 13 permitted varieties all sourced from the supreme Le Crau sub-zone but contains at least 70% Grenache. The 2016 instalment is an astonishing wine of prodigious richness, complexity and finesse, exhibiting wonderfully seductive notes of black fruits, berry liqueur, tar, wild herbs, liquorice and crushed stones. Immensely full-bodied yet incredibly elegant, this will easily have a 20-year lifespan.

About this wine

The 2016 Cuvee da Capo is a masterpiece from Domaine de Pegau. Produced in limited quantity from old vines, this wine showcases the depth and complexity characteristic of the best Châteauneuf-du-Pape vintages. A blend of primarily Grenache, it also features other traditional Rhone varietals. Its powerful palate, intricate flavors, and potential for long aging make it a collector's gem. Layered and complex, with flavors of dark fruits, spices, and earth. Robust tannins and a long, intricate finish. Highly rated across various wine critic platforms.

Chateauneuf du Pape

Château Rayas

Château Rayas is an iconic winery in the Châteauneuf-du-Pape region of southern France, famed for producing exceptionally fine and elegant wines. Despite its renown, Château Rayas maintains a low profile, focusing on quality over quantity. The estate practices traditional winemaking methods, favoring old Grenache vines and natural fermentation processes.
