Description

Owned and operated by the tireless Féraud family, Domaine de Pegau is unquestionably one of the leading producers in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Cuvée da Capo is their flagship wine and is only produced in years deemed of exceptional quality, with just seven vintages ever released. It is a traditional assemblage of the 13 permitted varieties all sourced from the supreme Le Crau sub-zone but contains at least 70% Grenache. The 2016 instalment is an astonishing wine of prodigious richness, complexity and finesse, exhibiting wonderfully seductive notes of black fruits, berry liqueur, tar, wild herbs, liquorice and crushed stones. Immensely full-bodied yet incredibly elegant, this will easily have a 20-year lifespan.

About this wine

The 2016 Cuvee da Capo from Domaine de Pegau is a monumental wine, showcasing the exceptional quality of the vintage in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. This wine is a blend dominated by Grenache, with smaller proportions of other traditional Rhône varieties, offering layers of complexity, rich fruit, and striking minerality. The 900cl format is a true collector's item, promising exceptional aging potential. The wine displays a deep ruby color with intoxicating aromas of ripe red fruits, kirsch, garrigue, and hints of black truffle and spice. On the palate, it presents an opulent texture, with layers of flavor that include cherry, fig, leather, and clove, underpinned by a vibrant acidity and well-structured tannins that promise a long future ahead. 100 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

Château Rayas

Château Rayas is an iconic winery in the Châteauneuf-du-Pape region of southern France, famed for producing exceptionally fine and elegant wines. The estate practices traditional winemaking methods, favoring old Grenache vines and natural fermentation processes.
