Description

Purchased by Jean-Pierre Moueix in 1953, Château Trotanoy has been considered one of the premier crus of Pomerol since the end of the eighteenth century. A naturally profound, complex, richly-concentrated wine with outstanding aging potential. The wine possesses a deep colour and a dense, powerful nose, repeated on the palate with the addition of creamy, dark chocolate notes, and a singular concentration of flavour owed to its very old vines. Sold in hedonistic large format.

About this wine

The 2017 Trotanoy is a powerful, deeply expressive wine that showcases the unique terroir of Pomerol. Crafted from predominantly Merlot, with a small percentage of Cabernet Franc, this wine features layers of dark fruit, truffle, and mineral notes. The 2017 Trotanoy opens with a bouquet of ripe plums, black cherries, and violets, leading to a palate rich in blackberry confit, espresso, earthy forest floor, and a touch of graphite. The finish is long, with silky tannins and a profound minerality.

Trotanoy

The Trotanoy collection from Château Trotanoy showcases the depth and complexity of Pomerol wines. Known for their power and elegance, these wines are crafted from old vines situated on the estate's prime Merlot growing Pomerol plateau, further enhanced by small percentages of Cabernet Franc.

Château Trotanoy

Château Trotanoy is a prestigious estate in the Pomerol appellation of Bordeaux, France, known for producing some of the most esteemed and collectible wines in the world. The name 'Trotanoy' is derived from 'Trop Ennui', referring to the muddy conditions that make the vineyard difficult to walk through after rain, and its susceptibility to frost. The estate has a rich history that dates back to the 18th century and has been producing wine for several generations.
