Miguel Angel de Gregorio, the proprietor of Finca Allende, grew up in Rioja and was heavily influenced by his father, who was the head viticulturist at the Ygay estate of Marques de Murrieta. He established his own project in 1994 and has since become known as one of the finest winemakers in the region. The 2008 Aurus is a blend of 85% Tempranillo and 15% Graciano with wonderful scents of cassis, blueberry, violets, liquorice, coffee and aromatic herbs. Superbly harmonious on the palate, it glides across the tongue with tannins providing subtle but necessary framework, and culminates in a deliciously long, mineral-infused finish.

The 2008 Aurus is a masterful blend of 85% Tempranillo and 15% Graciano, sourced from vines averaging over 60 years of age. This vintage showcases the exceptional conditions of the year, offering a wine of extraordinary depth and complexity. Aged for 24 months in new French oak barrels, it features a bouquet of ripe black fruits, licorice, and floral notes, complemented by a rich, well-structured palate with a long, elegant finish. It stands as a testament to the high-altitude terroir of Rioja Alta and the meticulous craftsmanship of Finca Allende. Aurus is one of the most prestigious and limited-production wines from Finca Allende. Crafted from very old, low-yielding Tempranillo and Graciano vines, Aurus is only produced in exceptional vintages. It represents the pinnacle of the estate's efforts to express the unique terroir of Rioja. The wine undergoes extensive aging in French oak and is known for its complexity, depth, and longevity.

Finca Allende, the brainchild of winemaker Miguel Angel de Gregorio, is one of the most forward-thinking wineries in Rioja. The estate is situated in the hill town of Briones in the heart of Rioja Alta, where the region's most historic vineyard sites are located. The winery was founded in 1995, with its first release in 1996. De Gregorio's philosophy is that wine is made in the vineyard and he thus places paramount importance on meticulous attention to the care of the vines.
