Founded by maverick winemaker, Manfred Krankl, Sine Qua Non is perhaps the most famous of all the Californian cult wineries. Tant Pis! is one the very first wines ever released by Krankl and was made as an homage to Jacques Reynaud (pictured on the label), who was the owner and manager of Château Rayas in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. It is a blend of approximately 60% Grenache from legendary Rhône Ranger, John Alban, and 40% of his own Syrah. Old “Project Wines” from Manfred are exceptionally rare and only 150 magnums of this cuvée were bottled from a single barrel.

The 1995 Tant Pis Magnum demonstrates Sine Qua Non's innovative approach to wine production. Blended from a mix of Rhône varietals, this wine captures the essence of the winery's pioneering spirit. Aged in oak barrels and presented in a magnum bottle, it offers a complex array of flavors and aromas, characterized by a balance of fruit, spice, and earthy undertones. The 1995 Tant Pis offers a symphony of ripe fruits, spices, and a hint of leather, enveloped in a structure that promises longevity. Its layered complexity is punctuated by a long, satisfying finish.
