Located in the commune of Vosne-Romanée, Domaine de la Romanée-Conti – or simply DRC – is undoubtedly the most prestigious wine producer in Burgundy. Since 1942 the estate is co-owned by two families, the de Villaine and the Leroy, with Alexandre Bernier in place as cellar master following the retirement of Bernard Noblet in 2018. DRC has the monopole of two grand cru vineyards, the eponymous Romanée-Conti and La Tâche, which covers 6.06 hectares of old vines. The 2001 vintage reveals notes of cinnamon, mixed spices, purple fruits, with a smoky edge on the finish. It’s vibrant and effortlessly elegant.
