Description

Le Pin is one of the newer names of Bordeaux having only made its debut in 1979. Owned and operated by the Thienpont family (of Vieux Château Certan), production is truly miniscule by Bordeaux standards and it is one of the most highly sought-after wines in the world. Writing for The Wine Advocate, Neal Martin described the 1994 as “a Pomerol undiminished by time and a quite brilliant wine in the context of the vintage” when tasted blind in 2016 and gave it a drinking window up to 2030.

About this wine

The 1994 vintage of Château Le Pin represents a remarkable expression of Merlot from the Pomerol region. Bottled in an exceptional 600cl format, this vintage showcases the estate's dedication to producing concentrated and luxurious wines. The year 1994 was favorable, resulting in a wine that balances intensity with elegance. The 1994 Le Pin exhibits a deep ruby color, with aromas of ripe black fruits, truffles, and a touch of oak. On the palate, it delivers layers of complex flavors including plum, black cherry, and chocolate, with a velvety texture and a long, luxurious finish.

Le Pin

The Le Pin collection, from the eponymous winery, showcases a singular focus on crafting one of Bordeaux's most prestigious and rare wines. Produced in limited quantities, each vintage of Le Pin is expressive of the unique terroir of the Pomerol appellation.

Le Pin

Le Pin is a Bordeaux wine estate located in the Pomerol appellation, near Bordeaux, France, which produces a single red wine also named Le Pin. The estate is relatively new in Bordeaux, having been founded in 1979 by the Thienpont family, who are also associated with other notable wine estates in the region. Le Pin has quickly garnered a reputation for producing one of the most expensive and sought-after wines in the world, thanks to the estate's focus on quality and its tiny production quantities.
