Description

Based in Gevrey-Chambertin, Denis Mortet is a family-owned estate run by Laurence Mortet and her two children, Clémence and Arnaud. The Domaine was originally founded in 1956 by Charles Mortet with just a single hectare of vines to his name. This release comes from the prestigious Grand Cru Chambertin, where Mortet owns a 0.15-hectare parcel of 60-year-old vines. 1991 was overall a successful vintage which gave wines of strength, depth and considerable ageing potential.

About this wine

The 1991 Chambertin from Domaine Denis Mortet is a profound expression of Pinot Noir, capturing the essence of its prestigious Grand Cru terroir. Meticulously produced from old-vine Pinot Noir, this wine exhibits a harmonious balance between fruit depth, structured tannins, and intricate terroir-driven nuances. The wine opens with aromas of ripe red fruits, earth, and underbrush, evolving into deeper notes of leather, truffle, and spice. On the palate, it offers complexity with layers of cherry, currant, and savory earthy tones, leading to a long, gracefully evolving finish. High scores from wine critics, considered a standout bottle within its vintage.
