Description

The Chave family has reportedly been producing wines in the Rhône Valley since 1481 and is unequivocally one of the most famous producers of Hermitage. Cuvée Cathelin is an ultra-exclusive luxury wine which made its debut with the 1990 vintage. It is named after a close family friend, artist Bernard Cathelin, and is produced mostly from Syrah from the Les Bessards lieu-dit with an extended period of maturation in new French oak. Only made in selected vintages production is strictly limited to around 200 cases. The 1990 is an enormously concentrated and rich wine with remarkable layers of fruit and savoury complexity.
