Domaine Bizot Vosne-Romanée Les Jachées 2009 is a medium-bodied Burgundy Pinot Noir from the prime Vosne-Romanée lieu-dit of Les Jachées in the Côte de Nuits. The Bizot vines in Les Jachées were planted in 1930. A professor of viticulture and oenology in Beaune, Jean-Yves Bizot works with the most exacting standards both in the vineyard and the cellar. Planted with a large proportion of old vines, his vineyard holdings are farmed organically. He ferments his Pinot Noirs with whole clusters, eschewing the use of sulphur during vinification and élevage. Bizot`s Pinot Noirs require considerable maturation time before they reach their peak of expression - from his Grand Cru Échézeaux to his village-level wines. Bizot produces three Vosne village cuvées, of which Les Jachées, is the most celebrated. "A spicy and very pure nose of notably ripe but not surmature aromas of blackberry, cassis and plum is followed by exceptionally rich, complex and palate staining flavours that are supported and shaped by buried tannins and excellent length.
