Description

Having only released its first vintage in 1979, Le Pin is one of the newest names in Bordeaux. Owned and operated by the Thienpont family (of Vieux Château Certan), production is truly miniscule by Bordeaux standards and it is one of the most highly sought-after wines in the world. Le Pin is an exotic and flamboyant style of Bordeaux produced from almost entirely Merlot and the 2005 was widely considered as an exceptionally high-quality release. Just 500 cases were produced.

About this wine

The Le Pin 2005 is a pinnacle of Merlot wine-making. This vintage showcases a harmonious blend of power and elegance, with a complex aroma profile and a velvety texture. Its production is highly limited, making it a sought-after bottle among connoisseurs. Powerful aromas of ripe blackberries and plums, intermixed with hints of truffles and leather, leading to a palate of lush velvet textures, rich chocolate and a lingering finish of spices and dark fruit. Widely acclaimed, frequently achieving top ratings from wine critics.

Le Pin

The Le Pin collection, from the eponymous winery, showcases a singular focus on crafting one of Bordeaux's most prestigious and rare wines. Produced in limited quantities, each vintage of Le Pin is expressive of the unique terroir of the Pomerol appellation.

Le Pin

Le Pin is a Bordeaux wine estate located in the Pomerol appellation, near Bordeaux, France, which produces a single red wine also named Le Pin. The estate is relatively new in Bordeaux, having been founded in 1979 by the Thienpont family, who are also associated with other notable wine estates in the region. Le Pin has quickly garnered a reputation for producing one of the most expensive and sought-after wines in the world, thanks to the estate's focus on quality and its tiny production quantities.
