First edition. Large 8vo., original pale brown morocco, title blind-stamped on the spine, with mocking bird on a branch in silhouette on the upper cover. London, Random House. Although publicised as the sequel of To Kill a Mockingbird by the publishers in 2015, the book has since it's publication, been described as a first draft of the famous Pulitzer prize winning novel. First written in 1957, 3 years before the publication of To Kill a Mockingbird, the novel is set some 20 years later. It reads very much as a draft, and is an interesting insight into the workings of a much loved novel. Number 39 of 100 copies signed by the author. A fine copy, housed in an elegant velvet-lined Solander box with inner tie, in green and brown, lettered in black and with railway line image on upper cover. A fine copy, as issued.
