The inscription, dated 1887, is to St. Clair Baddeley ("charming neighbor +/Mr. Stevenson's Friend" ) from Anne Benson Procter. Procter was the wife of the poet Barry Procter - "Barry Cornwall" - and mother of poet Adelaide Anne Procter. Also formerly in the library of actor Michael York.
