Here is an excellent example of a vintage Fender Jaguar. This guitar was produced at the original Fender factory in Fullerton California, U.S.A. in late February 1964. The guitar is all original with the exception of one slide switch and the low E tuner. Both of these items have been replaced with newer proper-spec pieces. The guitar is professionally set-up and ready to play, it needs nothing. Delve with me...The guitar has many Pre-CBS features that stand out. The original cellulose tortoiseshell pickguard is exceptional in color and figuring. It is in excellent condition and nice and flat. The body has deep contours front and rear and it feels very comfortable in your lap. The 3-color Sunburst finish has brilliant coloring and the wide-red band is unfaded. The finish has a nice vintage shine to it-not too glossy but not dull by any means-it just looks right. There is normal wear and tear all-over the face sides and back-see photos. The backside has excellent coloring as well and looks great. The neck slot has a nice fitment and perfect paint stick with factory "OK" approval stamp clearly visible. The neck is smooth and perfectly straight. The truss rod works smoothly. The finish on the back of the neck is nice and has a glass-smooth feel. The neck has a typical vintage early-Jaguar C-profile and measures .819" deep at the 1st fret and .985" deep at the 12th fret. The nut is the standard "B" and measures 1.60" wide ( 1 5/8"). The tuners are all original single line Klusons-with the aforementioned low-E tuner being replaced with the correct vintage reissue piece. This tuner does not have a Kluson logo on it-but it is the correct size and looks perfect otherwise. The headstock and logo display excellent. The Brazilian Rosewood fingerboard is nice and dark and super clean. The early Pre-CBS clay dot position markers are all nice. The frets have been professionally leveled, crowned and polished and are at a good height. They appear close to new condition-see photos. The action is currently super-low which makes for a fast and easy playing experience. The bridge is fully adjustable so you can raise the action easily, if that is your preference. As it sits, the string height measures .010" at the 1st fret and .040" at the 12th fret. The guitar plays great up and down the fingerboard with zero dead spots and no doinks. The rosewood fingerboard provides a really nice soft feel. The pickups have an excellent balanced signal and the quintessential Fender 'Bell' tone with all of the brilliance and chime that a Jaguar can bring to the party. The neck pickup brings the deep low end and growl. With both pickups on, the guitar has a very versatile tone like a Stratocaster. The neck pickup measures 6.83 ohms and the bridge pickup measures 6.63 ohms. The switches all function as do the potentiometers. The cloth wiring harness is in superb condition. The tone-cut switch was replaced at some time in the past with a newer version. The bridge functions as designed as does the vibrato tailpiece. The original vibrato arm is missing. The original Mute is present. This Jaguar is an excellent weight, it only weighs 7.96 lbs. It feels very comfortable on a strap or in your lap. has a great balance and just feels right . Comes with original 1964-1965 non-logo Fender hard case for safe keeping. One latch is missing on the case-otherwise it is in good condition. I have taken several photos to show how it looks in different lighting for your viewing. Photo props including signs, straps, cords, cars, shoes, dentures, toothbrushes, dust, albums, clothes or photos are not included unless noted otherwise.
