Based on Winters famous Sunburst 1963 Firebird V it features the same neck through construction of the original 'reverse' design Firebird from the early 60’s. The Gibson Custom Shop team have gone to great lengths with the accuracy of construction going so far as to replicate the removal of the original Maestro Tailpiece and addition of a Stoptail. The Tobacco Burst finish looks great and the ageing is some of the best we have seen thanks to Gibson's finish maestro Tom Murphy. Featuring a nine-ply Mahogany/Walnut neck-thru body with solid Mahogany wings, a 22-fret rosewood fingerboard with Pearloid trapezoid inlays, single-ply cream binding and sleek reverse headstock with banjo tuners. Pickups are Gibson Firebird Mini-Humbuckers with the traditional four knob and switch control layout. The hardware has been equally well aged; from the tarnishing of the nickel parts to the simulated wear on the pickguard the Custom Shop really nailed it with the Johnny Winter Firebird.
