This early-1964 Martin D-18 (made with hide glue in the old factory) sounds stunning and is in incredible, crack-free condition! Check out the included demo video.Based on the last few examples I’ve played, the early ‘60s has become one of my favorite eras for D-18s. This particular guitar has unusually good focus and articulation but still maintains the beautiful woody smoothness and sparkle characteristic of old Sitka and mahogany Martins. The slight V-shape contour to the neck feels super comfortable, and the action is spot-on all the way up the fretboard. The nut width is the typical 1 11/16”.The neck has been reset within the last few years, and the guitar also has a new bone saddle and nut. The Kluson tuners, pickguard, bridge, and bridgeplate are original. There is some minor surface wear as well as lacquer checking and a few scratches, but the guitar has been remarkably well-preserved. The grain in the Sitka is pronounced and displays some beautiful silking.Given the condition of this D-18, the asking price is $6,400 (lower on other forums) plus shipping. As a bonus, it comes with its original hardshell case, which has also been very well-preserved with the exception of the handle (a leather replacement).
