Gretsch FSR G6129T-53 Duo Jet Limited Edition I am proud to present this limited edition piece from a run of regal purple sparkle '53 Duo Jets. This was a special color for Wildwood Guitars! Reissues like this always get us excited because they're like a fun historical game of "What if?" What if the folks at Gretsch had some extra purple drum wrap lying around when they built the first Duo Jets and decided to use it up on the finish? Or, what if a mod in a rocking '70s band bought an old guitar at a pawn shop and gave it a groovy new paint job? Heck, what if Prince had been a Gretsch signature artist in an alternate timeline? Look at that! This guitar is so cool it already has us contemplating multiversal musical madness--a sure sign that the vibes are immaculate. Make no mistake, this Gretsch has tone for days! The Duo Jet's classic construction (a chambered African mahogany body with an arched 3-ply laminated maple top) gives it outstanding resonance, superb dynamic response, and a delightful liveliness that makes for a wonderfully expressive playing experience. To amplify that beautiful natural tone, we have two T-Armond pickups from TV jones, and they absolutely rip. They tame some of the high-end from old Dearmond pickups, but keep the edge and aggressiveness of the originals. They have fantastic clarity, beautiful chiming overtones, and superb warmth when played clean. Add in a few luxurious cosmetic touches like gold hardware (with added Gretsch Jewel G Control Knobs), gold sparkle body binding with black and white purfling, and block inlays, and all original documentations.
