Here's a 1968/69 Rickenbacker 4001 Bass in Fireglo finish. Serial number IO 010. Super cool and rare example! All four original pots date to 1968, while the serial dates to January 1969. So the bass was built in '68, with finally assembly in the very beginning of '69. Here's the skinny: The A tuner is a proper repro Grover that matches the other 3 original Grovers, and the bridge pickup has been changed. There's also a small route in the bridge cavity, which you can see in one of the photo's. There are two small parts where piece of the binding were repaired, but it's not part of the checkerboard section. The original checkerboard binding is fully in tact! The crushed pearl fingerboard inlays are also fully in tact. The rest of the bass is original, including the incredible sounding Toaster pickup in the neck position. The repro bridge pickup is also a great match for the bass . Really phenomenal sounding Rick. This one has a great neck angle, and plays great! The neck plays smooth and fast, with great action. Acoustically it's loud and snappy as well. It's getting harder and harder to find these 60s checkerboard 4001 basses. Non original HSC included..
