To see and hear this bass being played - scroll to the end of the pictures for a video.Late '65 Jazz Bass, Olympic White finish with a matching headstock in excellent condition and nice and light, weighing only 8 lbs 7 oz. Serial number 114037. Aside from the missing finger rest, this bass is all original and complete including the case which is also in excellent condition. In the 12 months from late '65 to late '66, CBS made quite a few changes to the appointments on a Jazz bass. First, we got lollipop tuners, then binding on the neck and finally by late 1966 the dots were changed for blocks on the fretboard. This Fender Jazz Bass comes from the first transition period and has an unbound dotted neck with lollipop tuners.The body finish displays some minor playwear and small dings, mainly around the edges of the body as well as some light lacquer checking. It has a fantastic neck which is extremely clean with virtually no wear. The headstock is also very clean with just a couple of very small marks. The original frets are in great shape having been cleaned and dressed in our workshop. All hardware and electronics are in good working order including the truss rod which operates correctly. This bass is a joy to play with a superb even sound right across the fretboard, the neck is straight and very slim at the nut, measuring only 36.5 mm. The depth at the 1st fret is 20 mm. It's been fully set up in our workshop with a set of Ernie Ball 45-105 round wound strings and sounds amazing. Weight 8 lbs 7 oz / 3.82 kg. The neck stamp reads Nov 65 A, and the pots all date to the 42nd week of 65. Pickup DC resistance: N, 7.23 k/ B, 7.27k. The sponge is stuck to the underside of the pickups meaning the dates are not visible.
