Very Good + Taylor Grand Auditorium style guitar. Taylor’s 900 series guitars are both amazing instruments as well as works of art, and this gorgeous one-owner Taylor 914ce is a perfect example. The rosette has abalone rosette inlays as does the outside edge on the top. Additional headstock, neck, and bridge inlays add to the aesthetic beauty. The classic combination of rosewood back and sides with a spruce top produces beautiful tones, which have only gotten better with time. A pre-Expression System Taylor, it has a Fishman Prefix Stereo Blender electronics on board which allows for the desired mix of under bridge pickup and sound hole mic and makes for a great plugged in sound. The guitar also has the Taylor “NT” neck which had been introduced a few years before it was built. Since the neck isn’t actually glued to the guitar as is the case with many other manufacturers it makes neck adjustments much easier. Minor imperfections include a very small spot on the top around where a pinkie finger might rest while fingerpicking with the thumb and three fingers that is hardly noticeable to the eye but can be felt, barely. The location is circled in one of the pictures. There’s also a light mark on the back of the neck at the fifth fret and another at the base of the neck where it curves at the body (also circled in the pictures). The one at the fifth fret is only slightly perceptible to touch, while the one at the base of the neck can be seen but not felt. There are imperfections in the finish on the side where neck joins the body, again circled in the photos. The finish is starting to sink into the grain on the back and sides, which is normal for a guitar that’s over 22 years young. This guitar is in excellent condition for its age.
