1958 Gibson Les Paul Jr Burst conversion.
Mildly faded to a strong Carmelita type finish. Strong back color in full cherry.
First off, I can’t say enough about how fantastic this guitar sounds and plays. It’s a real 1958 Gibson Les Paul but with that said, it’s had a ton of work done to make it what it is today and It is a full restomod to flametop.
The work was done by Perkins Guitars and vintage restorations. IG @PerkinsGuitarsandRestorations for photos of other conversions.
A 1958 Single cut Les Paul Junior that has been given a fantastic, highly flamed and realistic 58 old wood carved top and fully converted to A 1958/59 burst. The top carve was recreated off an original and has all the right curves. The wood is unique and reminiscent of some of the more flamey 58s. Charming as hell and vintage accurate.
Hot hide glue reconstruction
Super dark Brazilian rosewood fingerboard inlayed with historic makeovers inlays.
Refretted with 59 size wire, bound fingerboard with worn nibs. They’re soft around the edges and feel really nice.
This guitar was also Pleked at 13th st guitars recently and is set up really nicely with a bone nut and amazing fretwork by them.
The neck measures 0.90“ at the first fret and .995” at the 12th. very comfortable and has That feel we all love in a 50s Les Paul.
Weight is 9 lbs 2 oz. Medium weight Les Paul with Monster tone. Very very loud acoustically and a serious tone monster. If you like 50s LPs this one’s hard to beat plugged in or unplugged. It sounds really really good with the t tops and such a thick sounding guitar. The lighter ones tent to sound airy and charming. This one sounds thick, rich and has a more aggressive tone.
50s spec nitro lacquer finish with very specific aniline dyes that fade with direct sunlight. The finish is checked on the back of the body quite a bit but the rest of the guitar hasn’t yet….. It got left on a cold counter top last week during some really cold weather and that’s just what happens when they get cold. So full disclosure this guitar is starting to check and if thats what you want, this one’s going to age really cool. The lacquer is very thin and will check more over time.
Over polished headstock silk screen to look old. Some wear on edges of headstock.
There are a couple of nicks and dings on the guitar. It’s been played a lot, a bracelet marred the finish on the base side edge of the guitar. There’s also a black mark in the wood on the back close to the neck joint. Back when it was a junior it had something that stained the wood in a square shape that was left under it in the case. It’s not that noticeable at first glance and is kind of charming but needs to be mentioned.
The parts are mostly true historic parts including the butyrate m-69 rings with the exception of a Bartlett Pickguard, Pigtail lightweight 59 bridge, mojo axe 50s spec back plates, repro Catalin switch tip, kluson ABR-1 with brass saddles and a 500k cts 50s spec harness with luxe grey tiger caps.
Pickups are 1968 pat sticker t tops with aged aftermarket nickel covers.
