Built in the USA in 2013 this Presentation Series guitar was given Taylor’s most elegant appointments, ultimately showing off what the Taylor workshop is capable of. The PS56ce features a Sitka Spruce top, Cocobolo back and sides, a Tropical Mahogany neck with Cocobolo backstrap, an Ebony fingerboard, along with a Taylor Expression System and heirloom-quality Paua Nouveau and Abalone inlays all across the guitar.The satin finish neck plays very comfortably, its profile giving you a soft ‘V’ shape that results in excellent thumb positioning, all while feeling moderately thin which pairs well with the 1 ⅞” neck width to overall make for one of the best playing 12 strings we’ve come across. The Grand Symphony body style feels full and responsive without being as cumbersome as a dreadnought and the venetian cutaway gives excellent access to the upper register.The tone of the PS56ce is very well balanced, with a controlled yet full low end, an open and clear midrange, along with crisp and articulate highs. The guitar projects very well and has brilliant note separation, giving you a wonderful sense of clarity in even the most complex of chords.
