The Ultima Warrior Coming from the top rope to deliver a body slam of pulverizing acoustic tone, it's the Ultima Warrior, which is our fun nickname for the Hummingbird Ultima. Perhaps it's a bit undignified for such a luxurious guitar, but its stellar tone and luxurious cosmetic appointments would certainly intimidate other acoustics the same way a hulking pro wrestler would! This particular model is a little more luxe than normal, too, because it sports a special customized-for-Wildwood finish, a stunning Heritage Cherry Sunburst TV that puts a spotlight on the unbelievable tonewoods. We're not throwing the word "unbelievable" around lightly, either, as this guitar comes equipped with a stunning AAAAA (that's five As--count 'em!) maple top along with some ridiculous quilted maple for the back and sides. Apart from inducing spontaneous drooling, these resonant woods give this guitar a wonderfully bright, sparkling voice with outstanding articulation, clarity, note separation, presence, and chime. All-maple guitars like this have a fresh, exciting voice that stands out from the pack, and this run of Hummingbird Ultimas present an excellent example of their enticing tone. Speaking of enticing, the beauty goes beyond the wood here. The Hummingbird Ultima has all sorts of cosmetic appointments sure to make the other guitar pickers on your block green with jealous rage. We're talking a bound ebony fretboard, gold Waverly tuners, a mother-of-pearl truss rod cover, a custom pickguard, and (most impressively) an abalone vine inlay that runs up the neck onto the headstock. We see a lot of sweet guitars at Wildwood, but the Hummingbird Ultima made us all stop in our tracks and ponder its aesthetic perfection.
