This is a rare, early 1952 Les Paul Standard with tall knobs and no serial number. It is in exceptional condition and has the original case. It is all original down to the last screw and solder joint and is probably one of the best examples we have seen...It is a lovely, light weight example that has hardly faded at all and is showing none of the greening affects that these gold finishes usually exhibit. As stated, it is completely original down to the last screw and is in superb condition. Have a look at the pics and you will see what we mean. It includes the original, flat top brown case with pink lining that these early ones came in.The top has some nice, mild checking and if you look at it at the right angle you can actually see a lot of flame on the top piece which is hidden under the gold finish. This is fairly rare for 1952. The fretboard is in amazing shape with hardly any wear on the original frets.Plastics are correct with the original tall Gibson knobs present. Electrically there seems to be no sign of alterations.Sonically this guitar doesn't quite have the grunt of a later example but it definitely holds its own. The tailpiece can feel a little cumbersome initially but you soon grow accustomed. The neck is very comfortable, is a chunky feel with hardly any wear.So there you have it. One of the best original examples we have ever had here. A rare sight and in collectable condition that also happens to play superbly well too. What more could you surely ask for...
