Burgundyglo, VG+. This guitar was played professionally and it shows. Buckle wear and some wear on the neck but the finish on the front looks good. It’s very light and resonant. At 6.5 pounds it’s the first thing you notice when you pick it up – “Wow, this is light!” The next thing you do is strum a chord and its resonance tells you it’s been loved and played and sounds good because of it. Then you realize you haven’t seen this color in person before. The shipping totals printed in Richard Smith’s legendary “The Complete History of Rickenbacker” book must be wrong. Yes? Maybe not. We can’t say but shows only 19 “other colors” shipped in 1968. No breaks. It has original nickel-button Kluson tuners, original tailpiece, original pickups, and original. electronics. It’s had a refret (you’re welcome) and it was done by a pro. The crushed-pearl inlays seem to be impossible to find because no manufacturer uses them. The checkerboard binding on the back is such a classy touch, yet discontinued by 1972. The sound of these ‘60s Rickenbackers is unmistakable. Pete Townshend used one (and broke a few) and he even endorsed them. Also played by Paul Weller, the Beatles, the Byrds, and our old buddy Pat DiNizio from the Smithereens (RIP Pat.) The new Rickys sound great but the old ones sound better – woodier. This rare-color 360 comes in its original grey hard case.
