Description

This 1959 Gibson J-50 is in nearly “time capsule” condition! Check out the included demo video. It’s always fun getting vintage guitars through here that look like they could still be hanging on the wall of a guitar store in the ‘60s. This ‘59 (one of the coolest years for Gibson) is in amazing shape overall and has the classic warm, sparkly sound of an old folk-rock recording. It is very responsive and about as easy to play as any Gibson dreadnought I’ve had. The nut width is 1 11/16”, which is typical for this era.Luthier Jack Dillen recently reglued the bridge, reglued a couple braces, glued the lone crack (a small pickguard crack), installed a new nut and endpin, and leveld the frets. Everything major on the guitar – finish, pickguard, bridge, bridgeplate, adjustable saddle, tuners, etc. – is original. There is some lacquer checking (characteristic of any old instrument) and a few spots of wear, including one area concentrated on the bass-side of the top on the lower bout, but much of the guitar feels completely smooth and nearly untouched.Asking $6,200 here on Reverb (lower on other forums) plus shipping. Comes with a newer black hardshell case.
