White Steinberger USA GL-4T Headless Guitar 1990, Trans-Trem, Newburgh NY, Excellent, OHSC This is an original Newburgh New York Steinberger USA white GL4T solidbody guitar in Excellent and hardly played condition. It has the original type Steinberger-made neck, with neck through body construction and a "Trans-Trem" vibrato unique to Steinberger guitars. The neck is so stable, rigid, and well adjusted that there is no neck tension adjustment. The neck simply stays in the proper shape regardless of string gauge, tuning, and guitar use. This promotes tuning stability, as does the straight-line path of the strings. The "Trans-Trem" vibrato feel is smooth and easy. Steinberger GL series guitars are legendary for their unique design and innovative features. They don't just look cool, they have serious tech. This guitar is completely original, with no restoration needed or done, and no compromise of its originality. This GL4T has one active EMG 85 humbucker near the bridge and active EMG SA single-coil pickups in middle and neck positions, each individually selectable with an on/off pushbutton. No dents, one 1/16" ding in finish at top front edge. Included are the original arm for the trans-trem vibrato and a strap with strap lock. The listing price includes BOTH a Steinberger brand hard shell case in excellent condition and an original black Steinberger brand gig bag in near to excellent condition. It also includes two complete brand new sets of D'addario double ball 10-46 strings in sealed pouches. These strings are labeled "Trans-trem compatible." This guitar is in excellent condition, with only neligible fret wear. There are a few tiny thin shallow scratches on the back. The white area between two of the pickup on/off buttons has nonpenetrating scratches. The guitar looks as clean and handsome as new. It was played only rarely and briefly, as I was in the habit of using other Steinberger guitars. I did not modify this guitar except for adding thrust bearings on tuners of the lowest strings for smoother turning; these can be easily removed without tools. I disassembled and lubricated the transtrem mechanism for routine maintenance, and complete illustrated step-by-step printed instructions for doing this are included. Also included are papers that accompanied this guitar from the factory in Newburgh, New York. Reportedly only 3% of Steinberger GL series guitars are white. Chronologically this is the 5th oldest white GL4t shown in the Steinberger World Database online, and one of only nine white GL4t guitars listed there, but this database is not complete. Its serial number 7018 points to manufacture early in 1990. I bought it from a New York music store in October 1990. The strings were loosened for storage and shipment, and its 9v alkaline battery was removed and placed in the case's compartment. Also in this compartment are the vibrato bar, the TT key, a couple of hexagonal wrenches, and some spare thrust bearings. Shipping weight is 15# including Original Hard Shell Case, carton size 35" x 13.5" x 6". Shipment is only to a bonafide address in USA. I reserve the right to sell elsewhere or cancel this offer at any time.
