YAMAHA SB-70 "DHARMA" BASS - ANTIQUE SUNBURST FINISH c.1972 - w/OHSC This is the rare and top of the line Yamaha SB-70 - the so-called "Dharma" bass from around 1972.Yamaha's bass range of the day comprised the single pickup SB-30, and twin pickup models, SB-50 and SB-70. These were all single cutaway and short/medium scale. While the pickups and hardware on both the 50 and 70 models are mostly the same, the 70 had higher spec body timber, plus appointments such as the chevron inlays and shapely body binding behind that lovely German carve top.SB-70s were only produced for about a year, hence the rarity. Cosmetically this is in gorgeous condition. All original - knobs, tuners, bridge cover, mute bar, pickup fence and the original Yamaha hard case - also in very good shape. These are very solid and extremely well-built basses which balance really nicely on or off the strap. Talking of which, the original Yamaha bass strap (pictured) is also included. The only minor issues to report are a couple of inlay corners lifting and a touch-in near the front strap button. None of the inlays are actually loose and there is no impact on fingering. We have tried to illustrate these as clearly as possible in the photos. Overall, the body, neck, head and all hardware are in remarkably good condition. In summary...This bass plays very well and sounds fantastic. It also sports brand new LaBella flat wound strings.Collectable, desirable, beautiful and rare - this is some vintage instrument to play, hear or merely pose with on your next photo shoot. Maybe we have got something you've been searching for.VEJ-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------A Note On Shipping:We want you to be fully satisfied with everything - from the item itself (naturally!) through the shipping, packaging, communication etc.Of course there is nothing we can do about customs duty, local taxes etc at your end. But we can keep the overall price as competitive as is decently possible. The Japan post office service (EMS) is reliable and efficient but shipping costs from Japan to Europe or the states are unavoidably expensive. For this reason none of the shipping costs we quote reflect the actual price we have to pay. We are more than willing to take a hit on that to make things as attractive for you as possible.-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------Vintage Instruments & EquipmentShipping by air plus climatic changes can affect how a guitar is set up - no matter how well it is packed. Consequently there is no guarantee that an instrument arrives with exactly the same set up as stated. After a period of acclimatisation, you may still need to make any adjustments at your own expense.
