Description

This is an original 1946 Martin D-28 Herringbone in somewhat worn, but good condition. The original finish shows extensive pick wear on the face, nicks and dings, and various scratches on the Brazilian Rosewood sides and back. There is also extensive capo wear on the back of the neck, but the finish is original. This guitar has a good set of lungs and is a real boomer. It has had a professional neck re-set, an excellent refret, and the top crack on the treble side of the lower bout that I am pointing to has been repaired with two cleats. There is also a hairline side crack on the bass side lower bout that has been repaired with one cleat, and a hairline side crack on the treble side lower bout repaired with one cleat. There's one hairline back crack that has also been well-repaired with one cleat, and I can hardly find it is so tight. This guitar also has an expertly replaced ebony bridge, replaced saddle, replaced bridge pins, and a re-glued X-brace.The neck profile is a soft 'V' and the neck depth is 0.94" at the first fret, and 1.08" at the 12th fret. The string nut width is 1.69" and the string spacing at the bridge saddle is 2.19". The tuner holes were previously reamed and plugged with mahogany dowels, and the headstock has an insignificant small repaired crack at the volute that I am pointing to in the next to last picture, and I can hardly tell is even there. This fine-sounding vintage Martin Herringbone comes in its original Lifton hard-shell case and is priced to sell. We offer a 48-hour approval period with a full money-back guarantee, except for shipping costs, so buy with confidence.
