Rainbow Guitars is fortunate to have just received this one from the Gibson Custom Shop. The Les Paul Custom first introduced by Gibson, back in 1954 featured elegant appointments like gold hardware, multiple binding, and an ebony fingerboard. The '54 Les Paul Custom was the first  Gibson solidbody guitar to use the ABR-1 adjustable bridge. Gibson Custom has re-introduced this magnificent guitar in all its glory. The "Alnico V" staple neck pickup, ebony fingerboard, long neck tenon, carved mahogany top,and the ebony "Black Beauty" finish give this Les Paul Custom a great vintage look and feel. With updated appointments, this entirely new dimension in the authentic ownership experience. Gibson Custom Shop guitars are sprayed with thinner finishes, as were the original 1950's guitars. As changes were made to the finishing processes in the post-1950's era, finishes became thicker to allow for more aggressive buffing and sanding with handheld pneumatic "buss" sanders. To recreate the thinner, vintage-style finish on This 54 Re-issue, Gibson Custom has incorporated new processes including revised spraying techniques, as well as dry and wet sanding by hand. The difference is brilliantly exhibited in such depth and authentic vibe that is undeniably vintage Gibson.
