This is quite the rarity... It sounds like pure Dylan when it is played, no doubt due to the exceptional 4 1/2" deep body which gives it a very characteristic sound. This is an early Nick Lucas Special acoustic guitar manufactured in April of 1927. It is not known the exact date of when Nick Lucas received his original custom Gibson guitar but it is thought likely that it was ordered during a factory tour of June 1925. Lucas later stated that he took delivery of the original guitar in 1925. This guitar is from the very first year of production and some interesting details of the first year Nick Lucas's can be fount on The Fretboard Journal here It has two small screw holes on the side at the bottom, evidence of something fitted there at some stage. It has the original Sheraton sunburst finish believe it or not (nearly 100 years old!) We are not sure if the bridge is original - it may have been replaced but if it has, it has been on this guitar for a very long time. Old, possibly original bridge pins are included in the case. Two bits of good news - there are no breaks, cracks or repairs that we can detect and it plays really well and sounds, well just like 60's Bob Dylan did.Included is what looks like the original case which like the guitar is in good condition, especially considering its nearly 100 years of age. What a guitar. Probably the oldest we have in store right now and a classic sounding first year example of an acoustic classic...
