Back in the early 1970’s; long before the invention of ‘Vintage Guitar’ collecting, guitars were brought to be played, and this rare 1972 - ‘Fender Telecaster’ in the ‘uber rare’, custom order finish, ‘Firemist Gold’ has been lovingly cherished and gigged over the years. The original owner would have had to wait 6-9 months for delivery, and paid a hefty premium for the custom order nitro-cellulose finish on this guitar.‘Firemist Gold replaced Shoreline Gold in 1965, and was used as a custom order colour until it was discontinued by Fender in late 1972. Tech Specs:Serial No - 367420Solid alder body with single cutaway,1-piece Maple neck with "skunk stripe on the back",Maple fretboard with dot inlays and 21 frets,Neck profile: Medium ‘C’ Neck date - 3rd March 1972Scale length 25-1/2”Nut width 1-5/8”Telecaster "Block-Logo" on headstock,6 x orig. The original three-way pickup selector switch and both pots, which date to 23rd week of 1967, have been cleaned and work perfectly. This guitar’s pickup switching (wiring) mode has been modified over the years as player tastes changed, and a desired drive for wider tonal characteristics. it is currently wired to Fender’s 1965 spec. The medium-size C-shape neck-profile, and the 21 medium frets are still in great shape, with a low action, (b-1.75mm/ t-1.5mm) making this guitar very comfortable to play. The guitar is strung with medium 10-44 strings and will accommodate lighter or heavier gauge strings, according to preference. The super low string action is set at approx 1.75 (b) – 1.5mm(t); for fluent chord voicings and articulate lead lines, but may be lowered, or raised to playing style requirements with the adjustable bridge saddles. The orange plush lined hard-shell case is in overall good vintage condition, has both end catches working, and secures the guitar. It shows signs of wear; consummate its age and has done its protective job well over the years. Please review all photos carefully as they form part of the description.
