The gorgeous 1935 style sunburst on this Martin Custom Shop D-28 may be the first thing to catch your eye, but it's the buttery rich tone of this rosewood dread that'll hook you. Built in 2012, it has Madagascar rosewood back and sides, offering a very similar tone to Brazilian rosewood. Though Mad Rose is becoming as difficult to get as Brazilian, it fortunately doesn't have the same CITES requirements that restrict its travel. Everything about this Custom Shop model captures the best elements of the pre-war guitars, especially the Adirondack spruce top and forward-shifted scalloped bracing, hot hide glue construction, and rounded low profile neck carve. It has a rich, mellower tone that exemplifies the best characteristics of rosewood. Condition is excellent with light signs of prior ownership. It comes with a Fishman Matrix pickup already installed and in its original hardshell case.
