Description

Here's a 1946 Gibson J-45 in Sunburst finish. The front of the headstock is the original finish, while the rest of the guitar has been refinished. There's a few little touch up spots just above the truss rod cover (see blacklight pic in listing), but finish is original at the logo. We dated the guitar to 1946, as it has a gold Gibson script logo (which changed in '47), no banner headstock, no FON number, and the nut measures 1 3/4." These are all spec's from '46, making it a rare transitional post war example. There's a few professionally repaired top cracks on the front of the body, one on the back (a bit hard to see from the refin), then one that runs just below the binding on the side of the guitar (treble side). It also had a pickup at some point, leaving a filled input jack hole on the side. Everything is completely structurally solid. As for playability and tone....incredible!! Every note rings and sings. The neck profile has a large/full feeling, but not quite the size of a baseball bat banner. It's super comfortable. At some point the guitar had a neck reset, so it has easy playing action from top to bottom. And this thing is an absolute cannon. It's very full, clear, and balanced. Sounds so great!! This one is ready to be loved and played! HSC included... Weight- 4lbs Nut Width- 1 3/4"Before shipping, all guitars & basses receive a fresh, deep clean, along with a pro setup to your spec's!
