This is a great sounding 1943 Martin 00-18. I bought it from RetroFret for $13,500. Plenty of scratches, but no cracks. Action is very playable, rising some past the 5th fret. But there is plenty of height left on the saddle to improve the action. The sound is big and bold, but with a perfect blend of fundamentals and rich harmonics, like the best Martins are. Tuners are silky smooth Schertler. Hard case included; all latches work and it's a perfect fit.1943 is that magic year, IMHO, with more resonance and harmonics that early '40's and even 30's 00-18's. '43 is the year that truss rods were made of ebony rather than steel, due to a steel shortage from the war effort. I don't know if that's what makes this year so special, but special it is. You may return the guitar within 2 days from receiving it; you pay for shipping both ways.
