How rare is UBER RARE!!!!This Gibson ‘Bozeman’ Custom Shop (Prototype) - Chet Atkins SST has all of the highest quality accoutrements reserved only for guitars specifically made for the ‘Artist’ as designated by the exclusive ‘Sea Horse’ logo inlay. At the time, this revolutionary guitar design was ground breaking combining the best of Gibson’s acoustic and electric guitar technology that achieved no feedback, and was one of Gibson’s first forays into the then new ‘slim line’ electric/acoustic hybrid era. This Gibson Artist concept / prototype has the ‘Bozeman’ master luthier’s quality touch, and finish detail all over it.  He definitely didn’t hold anything back with this particular guitar. This extremely high quality ‘Chet Atkins SST’ concept/prototype guitar; made for the ‘Artist’ presents in the extremely striking flamed Spuce top - natural finish with:Top Wood: Solid Sitka Spruce book match flame;Back and Sides Wood: Solid Mahogany; Finish: Gloss; Shape: Single Cutaway; Neck: Mahogany + bound;Fret Board: Rosewood; Headstock: MOP - ‘Gibson’ and exclusive ‘Artist logo’s;Neck Inlays: MOP - Crown; Bridge: Rosewood with compensated saddle; Scale Length: 24.75" (628mm); Width @ Nut: 1 11/16" (42.8mm); Edge Binding: Abalone (top); Sound Hole binding: Abalone;   Tuners: Grover gold enclosed (replacements); Electronics: Piezo under-saddle with preamp and front mounted volume + tone + Frequency cut/boost controls; Case: Hard shell – Gibson monogrammed, with pink silk shroud; The guitar has no serial number stamped into the headstock, but is clearly marked as 'prototype' in the rear cavity, which represents it being a concept design presumably for the ‘Artist’ review and comment. It has been lightly played and lovingly cherished, save for some very minor polishing swirls, and minor handling marks as presented in the photos but with absolutely NO rash to the rear face. The replacement ‘Grover’ tuners, which were fitted before our time of ownership show some light tarnishing consummate with its age. The onboard electronics; that were the pinnacle of design from the build period, work perfectly. The rosewood fingerboard had been cleaned/oiled and retains all of the original factory fitted frets with minimal playtime wear. Not only does this ‘SST’ look fabulous; with its warm, smooth sound that compliments the voice so well, the 24.75" scale combined, with the thin "C" profile neck, gives it electric guitar like playability. This guitar is certainly for discerning players looking for the combined package of a bold, unique look from the rare custom shop appointments, with extensive tonal qualities.Currently strung with medium strings (010-.046) this guitar will accommodate lighter or heavier gauge strings, according to preference. String action has been set by our independent luthier, with a comfortable action for rhythm chording and articulated lead lines. The period correct TKL - Gibson monogrammed hard shell case with pink fur ling and pink silk shroud is paired for transit purposes, with all catches working perfectly. Please review all photos carefully as they form a major part of the description. We can provide addition photos and information on request. An uber rare opportunity to purchase a true ‘one off’, made for only the ‘Artist’ review and comment. This Gibson Custom Shop concept design, prototype guitar, is probably one of Gibson’s best every guitar designs that never went into production. A very fine, high-quality hand-made instrument, by the Gibson master luthier at the Bozeman plant - USA.Not just a great, unique guitar but a extremely sound investment piece for Collectors, Investors and discerning Stage Players.
