Incredible Moog Minimoog Model D from 1975, fully-restored and featuring the ”old” oscillator card for that huge, warm, fuzzy & famous tone.
This one actually used to belong to the music program at Harvard (yeah, that Harvard). Pretty cool — I didn’t even know they had a music program, to be quite honest. Nonetheless, this one survived in great shape and was actually somewhat decently maintained during its tenure. The patina is absolutely amazing — it looks like an old, worn-in Strat. We took it all the way so the next owner can hit the ground running towards musical bliss! Here’s what’s been done:
- full electrolytic recap- crimp flag connectors hard-wired on PSU and OSC card (these are often connection points that cause instability)- summing resistors on oscillator board updated with matched metal film (critical for proper scaling)- op amp and 3046 transistor array replacement with high-quality socket installation (better temperature stability)- new multi-turn Range, Scale, and Octave trimmers for precise and accurate tuning and added stability- ”dead-band” pitch wheel modification (zeros out the middle of the pitch wheel so you can actually return to proper pitch)- magnetic reed switch on Mod wheel (this allows you to leave modulation on for your OSC and/or VCF and actually zero it out when the wheel is down, which 99% of Mini’s can’t do)- buss bar & key contacts cleaned- keybed leveled and new lubricated key bushings installed- new power cord- full calibration & tuning
Not only does this Minimoog have all the critical updates to make it as reliable and stable as can be (while retaining that delicious musicality of the famously drifty oscillators), it looks amazing and has lived a great life thus far. Now it’s time for the next player to let it rip! There is not a better-restored, better-sounding, or better-looking Minimoog currently available anywhere.
