Here's a 1988 Martin Custom D-12-41 12-string in Natural finish. This incredibly special one off guitar, was custom built for Rock Brynner. Rock was the son of the famous actor (and Academy Award winner) Yul Brynner. Brock, who passed away in 2023, led an incredible life. He was a writer, teacher, musician (to name a few), who also was once the road manager for the Band, and even a body guard for Muhammad Ali!!The guitar itself is a work of art, that's not only stunning in appearance, but also incredible in playability and tone. Serial number 482968, dates the guitar to the very end of 1988. The guitar is a Custom D-41 12-string, and features a Spruce top, Brazilian rosewood back and sides, Ebony fingerboard with elaborate pearl and abalone tree of life inlay, Ebony bridge with fancy pearl inlays, Abalone top purfling and soundhole rosette, tortoise pickguard with abalone trim, and Block C.F. Martin headstock logo. Also on the headstock is 'For Rock,' which is of course for Rock Brynner. There's one small hairline repaired crack on the back that's nearly impossible to see. The rest of the guitar perfect! It has a truss rod, so the neck and action are fully adjustable. It plays like a dream! Frets are very good shape. The Brazilian Rosewood, which is gorgeous to say the least, has aged like a fine wine! Tonally it's open and full, with beautiful low end, and crystal clear top end chime. It sounds incredible! Extra bonus- there's an under the saddle pickup from the factory that sounds amazing! The inside label of the guitar reads "The Custom Shop / Tenth Anniversary / 1979-1989" and is signed by C.F. Martin IV. The interior backstrip of the guitar is also signed by C.F.
