Description

For many flat pickers, a 1937 D-18 is the king. If you follow Martin's current production, 1937 is the year upon which their Authentic series is modeled. This example is a survivor and was restored by Martin in the 1970s; most notably it has an oversized rosewood bridge plate and rosewood popsicle brace. The following work was done: light overspray throughout, replacement oversized bridge, 6 top cracks (including beside fingerboard extension and into sound hole), refret, neck reset, small hole plugs below bridge, replaced tuners, 3" crack in upper treble rim, minor stress cracks in lower rim, plugged strap button hole in bass side of heel, replacement bridge pins and saddle. All that being said, vintage guitars just need what they need and all the work has left it being very playable and sounding wonderful. Comes with 1970s Blue Martin Case

About D-18

The Martin D-18 is a true icon in the world of acoustic guitars. First introduced in 1931, the D-18 has established itself as a mainstay in genres like folk, country, and bluegrass. With its solid Sitka spruce top and mahogany back and sides, it delivers a balanced tone characterized by warm bass and clear treble. Musicians love its playability and rugged construction, making it reliable for both studio sessions and live performances.
