This 1973 model is an excellent example of the short-lived square-shouldered J-50, boasting a unique voice of its own! The J-50 is essentially the natural finish counterpart to the sunburst J-45. Both models feature mahogany and spruce dreadnought bodies, typically with slope shoulders, though Gibson produced square-shouldered versions like this one for a brief period in the late '60s and early '70s. The short scale and slim C neck make it ideal for fingerpickers, while its mids-focused tone ensures it stands out in a mix for flatpickers. Cosmetically, this guitar shows signs of natural wear, including finish checking, scratches, and nicks, but it remains structurally sound. It has undergone the following repairs: bridge re-glue, replaced saddle, replaced truss rod cover, and replacement Kluson tuners. Currently setup with low action, this guitar plays great and is ready to go!HSC included.
