The Pinup Strats from masterbuilder John Cruz are certainly among the most sought-after Strats. There are two main reasons for this: Pinups will generally no longer be produced in the Fender Custom Shop in the future and John Cruz left the Custom Shop in June 2020. For these two reasons alone we have here an extremely rare instrument with consequently the best value retention! In addition, this Strat really is an absolute gem! Top look, great sound, most comfortable playability, ...and all that in a super condition. When it comes to the finish, John Cruz has simply outdone himself. "Olympic White over 3-Color Sunburst", wonderfully yellowed and rocked. Countless hairline cracks, minor and major blemishes and extensive paint abrasion give this Stratocaster an extremely authentic vintage patina that usually only develops after decades of use. The pickups used are "Handwound M.D,. Ltd" pickups (i.e. “Handwound John Cruz Ltd” as they were called before Cruz left), which give the guitar a sound that is in no way inferior to its appearance: earthy, bluesy, woody, dirty, simply a killer sound. It resonates really well with above-average resonance behavior. The Strat has an incredible depth of sound and is very well balanced. The neck has a "60 Style Oval C" profile and plays as if by itself with the slightly stronger 6100 Jumbo frets and the 9.5'' radius. To round off the super look an extra-dark, graded rosewood was used for the fingerboard. Collector's value and masterbuilder legend John Cruz aside, ...here you get a top instrument that clearly shows how high the bar can be for masterbuilt guitars from the Fender Custom Shop.
