Up for sale is one of the very last, Fujigen made Orville by Gibson Les Paul Custom '57 Reissue model Black Beauty. Production of the high end ObG guitars stopped at the beginning of 1995. You can check the web, past and present, but it is extremely rare to come accross any ObG (reissue) guitars from 1995. In fact, mine is the only one that I have seen and I have seen and studied a lot of ObG's on the web, but also have personally owned quite a few of them. The true Reissue models are easy to recognise by the fact that they have a space between the first digit of the serial number and the rest. This '57 Custom Reissue has the following specs:- Ebony fretboard- Long neck tennon- ABR bridge- Fret edge binding- Gibson USA '57 Classic Pick Ups- Nitro Celulose finishThere is a lot of misinformation concerning these guitars, such as that the letter G in the serial number would refer to Gibson USA hardware, but that is not correct. Serial numbers that start with the letter G, only indicates that it was manufactured at the Terrada factory. Wherever made, the only US hardware that high end ObG guitars had were Gibson pick ups (Bill Lauwrence the Original in the beginning in the late 80s, '57 Classics were introduced second part of 1992 I believe) the rest of the hardware is Japanese, presumably Gotoh. Fujigen guitars, in my personal opinion, are the best. No wobbly Gibson logo like all the Terrada guitars which I doubt was even a correct font. Compare the "by Gibson" writing for both factories and you will see what I mean. The Fujigen factory made the first Fender Japan guitars and their USA counterparts were in awe of the build quality, craftmanship and attention to detail, that those Japanese luthiers were applying to their instruments. Fujigen also made Greco guitars and all the high end Ibanez signature models (Steve Vai, Joe Pass, Paul Stanley, etc.) and were recently again used by Fender Japan to launch their JV modified series of guitars.Fujigen only made ObG Les Paul models between late 1992 and early 1995 so any guitar you see that is before 1992, you know immediately it is Terrada made (they started back in 1988 or 1989 to make ObG's). Fujigen continued to make the lesser, just "Orville" branded guitars until 1997 and they are highly thought off as well in terms of build quality, etc. Not only is this one of the last ObG ever made, it is also in fantastic condition with only a few minor dings. The edges of the guitar, including the headstock are without any damage whatsoever. The frets are in excellent condition without any groves. There are no breaks, cracks or repairs on this guitar and it is completely original, apart from the witch hat knobs that I put on (to give it that 68 Reissue look) but the original knobs will be included in the case, which is a non descript case, also in excellent condition. The weight is the perfect 4kg. The guitar stays in tune for days and is well intonated. Please, also see my other listing of my ObG Honey Burst Les Paul '59 Reissue.Shipping cost to the rest of the world is just an estimate.
