Here is a very beautiful and very rare guitar by Antoine Pappalardo, model C1 (concert) from 1977Pappalardo is a very famous name in France and worldwide when it comes to guitar making. This is a beautiful guitar made of all solid wood of course, with a cedar top and magnificent rosewood back and sides.
The tuners are SB (Salvatore Billardi, well known in the world of gypsy jazz guitars, but who also made tuners for classical guitars).
The guitar is in very good structural and cosmetic condition considering its age.
The neck is straight, the top geometry is perfectly preserved, and the action is perfectly set for this type of guitar (3.7mm low E, 3mm high E) – a real delight to play!
It will delight both collectors and fans of French luthiery, and of course, concert guitarists looking for a beautiful tone.
It comes with its original lightweight and sturdy case.
1977 is the very first year during which Antoine (who was working alongside his father Horace at the time) signed his first concert guitars himself!
The label is not extremely legible, as it was originally covered by a second label from Jacques Camurat (a music store on Rue de Rome, which had the unfortunate habit of sticking its labels over the original ones on the guitars it sold...).
We can clearly recognize the label of Horace Pappalardo, Antoine's father, but the "A." signature is visible as well. A transitional instrument, and a true rarity!Take a look at the two last picture to compare the signatures of Horace Pappalardo and Antoine Pappalardo (the same with an added "A")(the very last picture is a label from an other guitar signed by Horace)There is a hairline crack in the finish (not in the wood) near the fingerboardAn extremely rare instrument worth owning for sure, amazing value for the price
