1968 Martin D28 - this was the next to the last year for Brazilian Rosewood. If you’re looking for a well balanced guitar with crystal clear tone, this one has it! This guitar has the classic D28 boomy bass with crystal clear mid and high notes that cut through the bass to give a very well balanced tone. It is ready to play and needs nothing other than maybe being setup to your preferences. It’s currently setup to my liking for playing bluegrass rhythm. If you prefer a lower action, there is some saddle left to lower it if you prefer. The guitar is great in condition but has had a couple repairs In the past. The pickguard crack that many old martins get has been fully repaired in the past by master luthier, John Arnold. This repair was completed several years ago and is still completely stable. There is a small crack in the back that was also repaired, and is also perfectly stable. The finish is original and has normal checking that you’d expect on any vintage Martin guitar. The neck is straight and stable with no separation at the neck joint. The only thing that I’m aware of that is not original about the guitar is the pickguard, which was changed to a shell colored pickgaurd when the pickguard crack was repaired. These guitars with Brazilian Rosewood back and sides are starting to get harder to find and becoming more expensive. this is you’re chance to get one before the prices starts rising even higher.
